This cotton tee commemorates multidisciplinary artist Bayeté Ross Smith's site-specific sculpture series Got The Power: Boomboxes most recent installations in France and at The Apollo Theater in Harlem NY. Now in its 14 year, these sculptures have been created at 15 sites, in 12 cities, in four countries, on 3 continents. Harlem NY, Brooklyn NY, Paris France, Saint-Denis France, Montogmery AL, Addis Ababa Ethiopia, Kyiv Ukraine, the Twin Cities Minnesota, Hartford CT, Detroit MI, Baltimore MD, Birmingham AL, and Atlanta GA.

The most recent sculptures in this series combine vintage boomboxes with sugarcane and cotton boombox replicas, tobacco, cotton, and sugar. These materials reference colonial economics, the extraction of wealth and resources from certain regions of the world, and the current wealth gap between nations and communities. The sugarcane and cotton boombox replicas were made in collaboration with Pulp Works Inc. and reference sustainable packaging and its role in addressing the climate crisis.
